I've been reading all the posts and journals over the last few hours and I've decided that I should at least show support for what I consider to be the important point of all this.
Community needs to be the main goal of a place like this. Great artists don't get that way by being stiffled by commercialism and elitest mindsets. Constructive criticism and encoragement are the key to making great artists out of the fledglings that grace these pages. Not page views, Not who has the most watches or +fav's. The good artists need to take a role in helping those who are still learning to get better and contribute to an even greater community.
Yes. While I can't make a comment on the issue with Jark (since no one is speaking) There does seem to be a drive towards commercialism on the site.
I think that they could get everything they want by supporting the community rather than commercialism. When people feel welcomed with a sence of community, they are more productive and will give more of themselves to the community. This serves everybodies purpose in the end, including the commercial entity.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
